"It is a wonderful experience to work with a team that understands your vision, and this film is very special to me.
I was inspired by the early physique photography and the Italian cinema in black and white. I wanted to create many layers with the ambiguity of the characters, the dance scenes, the subtle gestures of the actors,
The music is a very important element in my work. For this film, I mixed barroque music from XVIII century in contraposition with a modern mix of a 60s song, both songs talk about the same theme : The Lost love ".

Here is a film I shot for Fiasco magazine.
The models Lukas and Jais were amazing for this project. They are not dancers but they were so cool to portrait this abstract story. I have always been inspired by models whose talent is to portrait characters and evoque emotion.
This film is not about love, it is about human vulnerability. The music is from the Four seasons of Antonio Vivaldi.

I shot this film with Robbie Fiore. It was very impromptu project. We literally did the story board and prep as we were shooting. Robbie is so great, he will be a big actor one day. I looked into music and just had this guitar piece in my mind for a long time. I think it gives a nice complement to the visuals and more unexpected yet romantic and beautiful.

I was invited to participate in La Jolla Film Festival on July 29th and 30th .
It was a great experience to meet with other directors from Spain , UK, Germany , Brasil etc. and to watch, on a big screen, films directed by Karl Lagerfeld, BruceWeber and fashion brands like Dior, Vogue, amongst many others.
It was also very refreshing that since Fashion Film is still a new format, people are more creative rather than competitive. It is inevitable that things will change in a matter of few seasons. I see an explosion of creators and marketing people going in the direction of moving image.
I had a great time at the festival, exchanging ideas and the new visions from the new generation of fashion filmmakers.

My film "Re-cycle" won Best Cinematography Award at the Festival.
I wanted to honor the movies that allowed us to have the vision of today and to directors , like Luchino Visconti, who inspired me since I was a kid and started to go to the Filmoteca de Lima in Peru.

In these times of technology, big budgets on production and the saturation of information through internet, sometimes frivolity takes form over substance.
I think emotion and narrative are key on a short film.
Finally i wanted to thank my team on this project, specially Jonas Kessler who is an incredible sensitive person and model, Stylist John Tan, Peter Hastorf, my editor who inspired me and taught me so much and Simon Schwarz, my producer, whose support has helped me to continue on the direction that I believe as an artist.

My friend Sylwia Rakowska introduced me to the poems of Halina Poswiatowska, and we found inspiration to do a short story together. Julia is a film of memories and secrets , a life daunted by actions past. Traveling from present to past , the film leaves open a door to what her future might hold.
I love the soundtrack of this film composed and produced by the incredible Andreas Wolter. It is very melancholic and raw in emotions. i included a waltz at the end for the credits background to end with a postivie tone of hope.
I could not be able to do projects like this without the unconditional support of my dear friends Sylwia, Josh, Andreas, Riad and Natalie.
The film is premiering today on Imagine Fashion tv.

Here is a short film i shot with my friend Erik and Ryan. I wanted to give a softer direction to what seems to be violent since Jiu Jitsu is more about control rather than aggression.
The music has a very cinematic feel with continuos emotion played by amazing german composer Andreas Wolter. His music inspires me a lot in the editing room.
Erik was photographed by Mr Bruce Weber and I was flattered he used one of the images of this film in his spread for VMAN. As Bruce has been an inspiration since the beginning of my career as a photographer.

SUNSET is a short film inspired on one of the images of the Big Apple story. " Sleeping David"

The film was shot 2 ys after the original print story was done.
David had grown up and shaved his head. The mood of the film has a different feel from the original print narrative. I like the slow flow and the nostalgic feel of this piece.

I shot David Axell for this story called Big Apple a while ago when we met in New York. The story was published largely and acquired by a Museum as well. It was winter and it was just David and my camera. No production, assistants or heavy equipment. I started my cinematic direction with this story and it was a preview of my interest in short films and images with narrative. David and I reunited for other projects. One of which is inspired on this story. We used each frame of this story to start a completely different short film. I will post the films soon.

Here is a film that I really enjoyed directing.
We did the casting and shot in London, starring the amazing Sylvia Mann with Tom Lander and Jake Cooper.
I worked on the concept with Lara Jensen. We worked on the idea of a finding closure after a loss. It is a methaphor of love and friendship.
It was a very cold day but the spirit of the team was so energetic and we all had an amazing time.
The guys were friends but met Sylvia the day of the shoot and the connection they played on the scenes was really amazing.
We were not allowed to have heavy equipment for the falling leaves so i had everyone throw the leaves in different directions. It was like playing snowballs in fall.
For the music, i collaborated with George Stephan. I think music has a very important role in films with no dialogue. And i love his work, it really connects well with the narrative of the film.

With sadness I received the news about Charles. I had the pleasure to meet and work with him. Not only was he beautiful, but also a wonderful kind person. I remember when we did this film in New York 2 years ago, we had a massive audience checking the shooting and staring at him from the bushes in Central Park and screaming girls on the stairs of Bethesda fountain....and he would greet and smile to everyone. The filming was a bit dramatic and intimate but we laughed the whole time. Will always remember him with that big honest sweet smile.

I wanted to create a cinematic feel of meeting of strangers on the street and some intrigue in the process. In this fashion film we are not trying to tell a whole story, but play create a mood. I wanted a casting based on character, and gave each model a moment as if part of a movie. We had a great time!

Here is a short film I shot with my friend Josh Button. We met a while ago and we always wanted to collaborate on a project together. We did a short film before but i am still in the process of editing. This film is more about images. He has a striking look which is not the typical fashion model. I wanted to portray a character that is more rock and transform into sleek. i love the idea of rain and water on the skin and depth of field. I think it adds mystery and sensuality.

I had been so busy with projects and finally decided to update my blog more often , so much to share. I moved to London 2 months ago and have been doing lots of creative work. I just went to the Burberry show last tuesday and my friends at V magazine asked me to shoot a film on Christopher Bailey new collection for Burberry. It was so much fun. The clothes are beautiful, and the models young and gorgeous. They played an Annie Lennox song at the show, I thought it was a great choice for the video as well. Enjoy!

I shot this film as an homage to Gianni Versace. The model is Marios. He is so beautiful in person and great to work with. We wanted to work with a man rather than a fashion boy.
